Solar Tubes vs Skylight Tubes
What’s the difference? Nomenclature is the only difference. Essentially a Solar Tube or Skylight Tube is a flexible or rigid reflective tube that creates a tunnel through your attic from your roof into your home. This tunnel allows natural daylight to shine into your space giving you electricity free natural light. Call them whatever you’d like, but be sure to have a few installed in your home.

We installed the solar tube near the crystal chandelier to illuminate the room and make the lighting fixture sparkle. Notice how the bushes outside the window haven’t changed in exposure, but the room is so much brighter. We’ve included the camera settings (EXIF Data) from the photo so you can see there is no tricky camera work at play.

Solar Tube Light Quality
Solar Tubes or Skylight Tubes will introduce beautiful natural light to your space. It is important to understand that natural light actually has a color temperature. A traditional incandescent light bulb emits a yellow/orange color hue due to its Kelvin color temperature rating of around 3000. A candle emits an even lower temperature of light giving it a deep orange glow. Natural light on the other hand is above the 5000-Kelvin range and is white/blue in color.
