Rotary is an international service organization whose motto, “service above self” informs all their work in their respective communities and globally.  Thurston County is home to eight Rotary clubs with members totaling about 550 people.  Among them is the Rotary Club of South Puget Sound which was established in June of 1985.  The club’s auction, which was held at the Little Creek Casino Resort this year and attended by 375 people is one of two major fundraisers organized by the club throughout the year.  The other, a Rose Sale is held each fall.

Smart Energy Today, Inc. has a strong commitment to both community and its team of employees.  Longtime employee John Baxter who brought his wife said, “It’s amazing to be part of a company that is doing good things in this community and have a little fun at the same time”.  The company puts “fun” in fundraiser.  All but two at his table wore Seahawks 12th Man jerseys to the tailgate-themed event.  The other two, owners of a local commercial real estate company wore Washington State Cougar jerseys.
