Sol-Blanket Insulation™ is a type of reflective insulation.  It has two layers of foil that act as both a radiant barrier and a vapor barrier with with a closed cell cellulose foam core that acts as insulation.  Sol-Blanket Insulation™ compliments traditional insulation and prevents radiant heat transfer, the primary source of SOL-Shield-Plus_3heat-flow in and out of structures structures.  This barrier helps make your home more comfortable when its hot and when it’s cold!

The R-value of Sol-Blanket Insulation™ can be as high as 16 depending on the construction of the home, the local climate and a few other factors.  In the building and construction industry the efficiency of insulation is rated in terms of thermal resistance (heat flow), called R-value. The U.S. Department of Energy has recommended R-values for your home based on your location in the U.S..

Where does Sol-Blanket Insulation™ go?

Sol-Blanket Insulation™ can be used in the attic and in crawl spaces.  In the attic the Sol-Blanket is usually placed directly over existing insulation.  In a home’s crawl space the insulation would be

attached to the the floor of a home.  The insulation can be used in many other places.  Pole barns, metal buildings and even a dog house!

Benefits of Sol-Blanket Insulation™

Sol-Blanket Insulation™ is unaffected by humidity, it prevents 97% of radiant heat transfer, acts as a vapor barrier, prevents condensation, is UV resistant and does not promote mold or mildew.  If you are worried about pests such as rodents, bugs or birds you will be happy to know this insulation does not provide a desirable nesting place.

Because a radiant barrier keeps the heat in during cold weather and keeps it out during hot weather the need to run a heating/cooling system is reduced.  Running it less helps extend the life of this expensive piece of equipment.  It also means energy consumption is decreased lowering power and utility bills.
